Our Neighborhood
The work of this organization began in Our Neighborhood – The Hill District within the City of Pittsburgh – in 2011.
The Hill District has a tremedous history of culture, music and diversity, but has struggled since the 1960s with traumatic events and hyper-segregation. Thus, when the organization began, people of the community were desperately seeking HOPE.
Through a series of community conversations, the Hill District has experienced HOPE through the work of the Neighborhood Resilience Project and Trauma Informed Community Development. In working with micro-communities around the neighborhood and building leaders within the community, HOPE has been created in our community.
The Neighborhood Resilience Project is always looking for more people to join the ranks of HOPE Givers not only in our community, but in communities across the nation and world.
