Resilience Rocks the Block

On October 31, 2026, the Neighborhood Resilience Project is planning its inaugural Resilience Rocks the Block gathering. Our plan is to bring together hundreds of local neighbors, families, and civic leaders for a day of live music, food, games and celebration.
Partnering with us enables us to continue our vital mission of supporting and building stronger communities. Located at 2038 Bedford Avenue, Pittsburgh, The Neighborhood Resilience Project is a nonprofit organization functioning as an essential support of the local hill district and select communities of Pittsburgh.
Rooted in the Gospel and teachings of the Orthodox Church, inspired by the Civil Rights Movement (American 1950s-1960s), the mission of the Neighborhood Resilience Project is to support the transformation of neighborhoods from Trauma Affected Communities to Resilient Healing and Healthy Communities through Trauma Informed Community Development. The information below is a list of program impacts from last year:
  • Emergency Relief Financial Assistance- We distributed $55,339.53 across 213 individuals in 2025.
  • The Backpack Feeding Program- We service 1,600 children weekly across 32 locations with all participating partners.
  • Therapeutic Groups – Our Therapeutic Groups saw 1,934 total attendances, with many participants returning multiple times.
  • The Food & Clothing Pantry – We provided 26,603 GIK grocery and nonperishable food items, 10,035 meals and 2,877 articles of clothing.
  • Toy Drive – We provided 1,052 gifts distributed to kids and seniors between the Hill District and Clairton.
  • Free Health Center – provided 518 free dental appointments and 851 free medical appointments to the uninsured.
As we continue to pull our strengths together and work to build communities, we are hoping that this gathering will help to relieve the suffering of one another when our community members are struggling. Thank you for your help in our healing and rebuilding programs and mission.
